Brigham Young University is the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. Founded in 1875, BYU enrolls approximately 33,000 full-time students representing more than 100 countries. The university is located on a 6380-acre campus at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains in Provo, Utah.

BYU offers a unique blend of secular and spiritual learning--a concept expressed by the university's motto: "The glory of God is intelligence." While the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sponsors BYU, approximately 25 other denominations are represented within the student body. All students are encouraged to attend the congregation of their faith.

The mission of Brigham Young University is "to assist individuals in their quest for perfection and eternal life." To this end, BYU seeks to develop students of faith, intellect, and character who have the skills and the desire to continue learning and to serve others throughout their lives.
